New BioTraCes policy brief highlights interconnections between biodiversity and achieving SDGs
BIOTraCes just published its first policy brief, which emphasizes the essential role of biodiversity in meeting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Drawing on findings from our 9 European case studies in sectors like agriculture, forestry, and urbanization, the brief shows how SDGs take on unique meanings in local contexts and underscores the interdependence between biodiversity recovery and other SDGs.
The brief advocates among other things for SDG implementation strategies to be more tailored to local contexts and promoting a focus within SDGs on empowerment of marginalized communities. The policy brief offers actionable recommendations to make SDGs more locally relevant, equitable, and integrated with ecosystem preservation.
